DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the workshop is to explore shared research interest and possibilities for future collaboration on research between Danish and Chinese scholars. We are interested in the sociology of welfare in a broad sense. We hope to engage with Chinese scholars who are interested in learning about the Nordic societies, just as we are keen to learn more about the Chinese society and the challenges and prospects faced as China is developing its welfare provision for it citizens. The workshop will explore topics such as:
- The development of welfare services, institutions, and societal models
- Social stratification, inequality and mobility
- Gender relations in contemporary societies
- Urban development and the quality of life in big cities
- Developments in food consumption patterns and food as a cultural phenomenon
