Individually Studied Subject

Course Content

The individually studied subject serves as the first element in the student’s specialization. The purpose of the course is that the student gets an opportunity to investigate a particular topic that has his/her particular interest more in-depth, either on his/her own or in smaller, self-organised groups.

Learning Objectives

In the end of the course, the student should be able to:

    • Appropriate and present knowledge through individual study of relevant scholarly literature and other relevant sources of data
    • Demonstrate the ability to formulate and delimit a scholarly problem related to the programme’s topical focus, suitable to be addressed in the allotted timeframe
    • Report the outcome of his/her analysis in a clear and concise prose
    • Carry out an analysis of the research problem based on either theoretical reasoning grounded in existing literature or empirical data analysis or a combination thereof
