Join a discussion about the progress of social innovation, impact investing, and social entrepreneurship in both China and Europe. The workshop will identify key research questions that practitioners would like to see addressed by academic research. The workshop is arranged jointly by the Sino-Danish Center (SDC) and Tsinghua’s X-Lab and aimed at extreme innovation practitioners, impact investors, and academics.
Extreme Impact Innovation
The term ‘extreme impact innovation’ refers to the identification of business opportunities that while creating profit also generate large scale public welfare benefits in areas that have been difficult to address.
The workshop will begin with a small number of brief introductory notes from notable academics and practitioners. In the second half, a structured debate will facilitate the formulation of a research agenda.

- What is the status quo of extreme impact innovation in China?
- How can academic research support evidence-based policy making that encourages and supports extreme impact innovation?
- What are the major concerns of Chinese social businesses, social entrepreneurs, and impact investors?
We expect this workshop to be the first step towards increased research co-operation between Danish and Chinese Universities on the one hand and social innovation practitioners on the others hand. This cooperation will provide robust evidence based insight that will support decision making of social innovation practitioners, impact investors, and
